We’ve been writing a lot recently about AI-driven leadership. Unsurprisingly, generative AI is now part of how leaders make big decisions.
Supposedly, there’s new equilibrium forming between human intuition and AI’s raw power. But, with my executive coaching hat on, I feel the balance shifting again – and very quickly.
Leaders started out using AI to carry out heavy-lifting and technical tasks to free up time and make better decisions. However, an excellent article recently in Harvard Business Review suggests AI usage is changing, with more users looking to it for emotional support.
According to the author, Marc Zao-Sanders, top of the list of AI uses is therapy and companionship. Whether this is a 24/7 availability thing, or an ability to offer anonymous advice, I’m not sure, but it certainly reveals a dramatic new shift in AI usage.
Leaders are no exception to this trend. And as an executive coach, I’m quite comfortable with it. The use of AI has given me a sharper focus on new ways we can offer genuinely useful (and human) coaching interventions for leaders.
In truth, we should be less fussed about what AI can do – and more about the new value we can bring as a result.
We’re here to give your leaders and experts the confidence to stand out through their humanity. And for the many leaders out there struggling to find authenticity in the way they think, speak and act, that’s becoming ever more important.
