Bringing Soul Back to Thought Leadership

Jun 17, 2025

Let’s bring the human soul back into thought leadership …

For years at Merriborn, we’ve defined thought leadership as:

“Unlocking knowledge and expertise from a trusted source, in order to provide valuable perspectives for others to act upon.”

Those key words – Knowledge, Expertise, Trust, Value, Act.
(I wish it made a clever acronym, but it doesn’t 😊)

Even during this AI revolution, our definition – and these key words – feel more relevant than ever.

AI is gripping everyone and everything and does a lot of good in the way in which we all work. Along with it, though, we observe a strong trend to vanilla-flavoured mediocrity in thought leadership, masquerading as insight.

AI ends up as the crutch, rather than the enhancer, for human creativity.

Audiences scroll on. Trust isn’t built. Influence fades.

So, it’s time to bring back the soul into thought leadership. Because there are three eternal truths …

• Organisations consistently underestimate the commercial value of their knowledge and expertise.
• They lack the confidence to create valuable content from this knowledge.
• They fail to reinforce hard-won trust by repurposing thought leadership content effectively.

And what drives us on at Merriborn is helping businesses create thought leadership with confidence and ease, using their own authentic voice.

Soulful thought leadership stands out. It changes the debate. Let’s get it back.
